Season 1, Episode 2: Getting a Diagnosis

In this episode, we dive into the process of getting an Autism or ADHD diagnosis. Michelle outlines her three-part diagnostic process and the measures used in assessment, from communication and social traits to special interests, sensory processing, and executive functioning.

We explore how ADHD subtypes can show up differently, and discuss the role of rejection sensitivity dysphoria and dopamine. You’ll also hear practical advice on how to begin the assessment process, what to bring to your first appointment, and how to prepare.

The episode also touches on self-diagnosis, what to look for in a diagnostician, and the impact of trauma and family history.

Season 1, Episode 1: What is Neurodiversity?

For our very first episode of Season 1, we are excited to dive into the foundations of neurodiversity with your hosts, clinical psychologist Monique Mitchelson and clinical neuropsychologist Dr Michelle Livock. We examine the power of language in de-stigmatising neurodivergence, the differences in what drives behaviour for neurodivergent versus neurotypical people, and bust the “empathy myth.”

We also highlight the unique talents of neurodivergent brains and how ADHD can present differently in women and AFAB individuals.
